Theme

THE FUTURE SUPPLY CHAIN

Technology is driving changes in society at a rate never seen before. New markets in previously inaccessible or inhospitable parts of the world offer new customers with different needs. Seizing these opportunities depends on a future supply chain that is more aware, responsive and agile than what we know today.

New skills will dominate the supply chain profession as technologies like smart machines, 3D printing, and ubiquitous digital demand capture create new possibilities, but also new challenges. Wider cultural awareness and sensitivity will also be increasingly vital to business success as this bigger, more inclusive future supply chain takes shape. This event will explore where supply chain is headed and what tomorrow's leaders need to know about:

New technologies & digital enablement, the future of globalisation and developing tomorrow's supply chain workforce.

FOCUS DAY

WOMEN IN SUPPLY CHAIN

With its roots in trucking and manufacturing, supply chain has traditionally been viewed as inhospitable to women. And yet women often have the collaborative, communication and other skills that are vital for supply chain excellence today. While more women are entering the supply chain profession, few hold C-level positions. Analysis by SCM World shows that just 10% of top supply chain executives in Fortune Global 500 companies are female. If lasting change is to occur, more of these role models are needed to provide rising stars with a template for success, and there needs to be a greater understanding among practitioners of both genders about the barriers that women face.
